Umpiring Courses for 2026

To support the development of umpires, Netball Singapore holds regular umpiring accreditation courses.

*There are umpiring courses specially for students and teachers. Please refer to theΒ ACTIVE Schools ProgrammesΒ to book these courses for your school.

Things to take note:  

  • Minimum 12 pax and maximum 16 pax per course.  
  • Payment options include cash, PayNow to UEN S63SS0051C or Skillsfuture Credits. 
  • Please note that once registration is confirmed, there will be no refunds or transfers to another intake for participants who are unable to attend. You may, however, transfer the registration to another person that would like to take over your spot.  
  • The period from 4 to 18 May is designated as one intake. Participants must attend all sessions during their registered intake. Only sign-up if you can make it for all dates.  
Syllabus 

Rules, Technique and Practical 

Online Theory Exam: 1 hour 

*Must be completed prior to Level 1 Umpire Course and certificate of completion submitted on the first day of course or earlier. 
Things Required for all days: 

Finger-grip whistle – To be purchased on the first day of course 

$10/- for plastic whistle or $32/- for metal whistle 

 

Rule book – Will be given on the first day of course 

 

A rubber band/hair band to indicate centre pass 

 

Writing materials  

 

Water bottle 
Attire 

Sports Attire, shoes 

Assessment Day: White top and black bottom (skort for ladies, shorts for men) 
Course Participants Responsibilities 

All participants are required to read up the Netball Rule Book before course. You may access the rules online. 

Completed theory exam online and submit a copy of certificate of completion via email to events@netball.org.sg 

Standard Fitness is Required. 
Pre-Requisite  Minimum Age: 12 years old

Course Details

ONLINE THEORY TEST

  • The minimum passing mark is 70%. The test result is valid for 4 years.
  • There are 100 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 60 minutes. There are no limits to the number of times you may attempt it.
  • You will be required to print out and provide a copy of their certificate to Netball Singapore for validation and recording purposes. Or you may send in your certificate before the commencement of the course to Salizah atΒ nur.salizah@netball.org.sg

  1. Fitness: 5.1 and above, targeting towards 9.1 (Beep Test/Yoyo Test)

LEVEL 1 AND C BADGE UPGRADING WORKSHOP

Elevate your umpiring skills with our Level 1 and C Badge Upgrading Workshop, designed specifically for current Netball Singapore Level 1 and C Badge umpires. This workshop aims to prepare participants for the upcoming National League 2025, providing knowledge and skills necessary to attain a higher badge this year.

Dates: 7 and 14 May 2025Β 

Time: 7.00 pm – 10.00 pm

Eligibility: Open to current Level 1 and C Badge umpiresΒ 

*Participants must be able to attend both scheduled sessions.Β Β 

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1. Level 1

  • Β· Valid for 2 years only. Required to be tested for C badge within 2 years. Request to be tested can be sent in via email to nur.salizah@netball.org.sg at least 1 month before National League (May).

  • Upon expiry of Level 1, the participant must re-sit the Level 1 course.

2. C Badge

  • Badge will last for 4 years
  • Umpires will have more exposure to high level games
  • More monetary incentive for each match umpired.

3. Talented Umpires will be TID during the courses to be further trained for C Badge or higher level Badging.
4. Participants are encouraged to practice umpiring during school/club training.

5. Any umpire who does not have their Badge re-endorsed or a new badge awarded shall be known as a Level 1 umpire and shall be paid in Netball Singapore events at the rate of a Level 1 Umpire.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. Netball Singapore reserves the right to postpone or cancel the workshop if the numbers do not meet the minimum requirement.

2. In the event of cancellation, all participants and schools will be informed well in advance.

3. If participants wish to withdraw from the workshop and obtain a refund, coaches/schools must notify Netball Singapore in writing. A letter of notification must be submitted to Netball SingaporeΒ 3 daysΒ before the workshop commences. An administration fee of S$5.00 will be deducted from any refund within 3 days’ notice.Β  No refund will be given ifΒ 3 days’ notice is not provided.
