CEOs, NorthLight School students, celebrities, Deloitte staff and Team Singapore netballers came together to play netball for a good cause
S$15,000 raised for the Rainbow Centre, Singapore
CEOs, NorthLight School students, celebrities, Deloitte staff, and Team Singapore netballers met on court this morning to play it out in two charity matches to raise funds for the Rainbow Centre, Singapore at Deloitte Pesta Sukan 2016.
The first match – the CEO Charity Challenge – was led by Minister for Culture, Community and Youth Grace Fu and Mr Philip Yuen, CEO of Deloitte Southeast Asia and Singapore. Participants of this match were invited by Deloitte and comprise of CEOs and senior management of leading companies like Singtel and Fullerton Health. These participants donated at least S$500 each to take part, with Deloitte matching the donation dollar for dollar.
The teams were captained by retired Team Singapore netball captain Micky Lin and Team Singapore netballer Charmaine Soh, both of whom are also Deloitte employees. Playing together with the invited guests were other Team Singapore netballers who also work at Deloitte, and Deloitte partners.
Netballers from NorthLight School (NLS) were up against a team of celebrities in the second match. This was NLS’ first public match since Deloitte and Netball Singapore helped start netball as a CCA in the school in January this year. For this match, NLS had a little help from three Deloitte employees who are Netball Super League players.
Their opposing team comprises of actress Paige Chua, actress/host Jade Seah, actor/host Paul Foster, host Barbara Latimer, actress Shine Koh, actress Joey Feng, model Yumiko Hoskin and 938Live sports editor Philip Goh.
The second match raised S$5,000 with Deloitte topping up S$1,500 after donating S$500 for each of the 7 goals the NLS team scored.
Through the donations and proceeds from the charity match, a total of S$15,000 was raised to help the Rainbow Centre with the construction of a much needed campus extension to increase capacity to serve more children on the waiting list and expand its intake for students up to 18 years old.
