Team Singapore announced for M1 Nations Cup 2019

25 September 2019, Singapore – Netball Singapore is proud to announce the team that will represent Singapore at the upcoming M1 Nations Cup, set to take place from 20 to 26 October. The six-nation netball tournament will feature 12 players from the Singapore team, two of whom are debutants of the Nations Cup.

Just back from the team’s week-long New Zealand training tour and the World Cup at Liverpool in July, National Coach Natalie Milicich has narrowed the squad of 22 down to 12, and is excited with the potential this team may deliver for the coming tournament.

“We had a few intense months of matches and trainings, giving me the opportunity to see how the players handle pressure during matches and how they react in different scenarios. I am confident of this team and excited to see how this good mix of
experienced players and debutants will gel as we strive to reach the finals of this tournament,” said Milicich.

Team Singapore will be led by veteran Charmaine Soh, who also helmed the team for the World Cup at Liverpool in July. With 110 caps under her belt, Charmaine commented, “It is definitely an honour to be chosen to lead Team Singapore again. Nations Cup is always a tournament we look forward to as the support from our fans here at home always provide us the extra boost during matches. We will give our best for a great performance this October.”

The team also welcomes Angelina Lim and Jamie Lim, both from the U21 team and will be making their first appearance at the OCBC Arena. It has been a whirlwind year for Angelina especially, who was initially dropped from the U21 squad earlier this year. With Coach Natalie’s encouragement, the 20-year-old kept on training and by mid this year, got selected back into the U21 squad, went for Asian Youth Champs 2019 in Japan and will even be donning national colours with the senior squad for the first time this October.

“2019 has been an amazing year for me and it is incredible to be part of the team for the M1 Nations Cup. I will definitely give my best and not let the team and Coach down,” said Angelina.

The M1 Nations Cup will be held from 20 to 26 October and tickets to the tournament are available on https://www.apactix.com/events/detail/m1nationscup-2019.
