SSSC Netball National B Div Girls Preliminary 2018
CHIJ (Toa Payoh) vs Nanyang Girls’ High School (NYGH)
CHIJ Toa Payoh dominated the court in the match against Nanyang Girls’ High School. Their strong and sharp passes allowed them to bring the ball down the court effortlessly. By the end of the 1st quarter, they were leading 13-1.
With height advantage, CHIJ made full use of this advantage which allowed them to widen the score difference. They played a lot of long range and high passes which made it difficult for NYGH to defend. The NYGH girls were also nervous during the game as they dropped several balls and were very panicky during the game. The shooters were unable convert the shots too. However, NYGH did not give up fighting and persevered on. At the end of the 2nd quarter, CHIJ continued to take the lead 27-4.
In the 3rd quarter, the CHIJ girls were not as calm and composed as compared to when they were playing in the previous quarters. They had a lot of drop balls and the shooter was not very sharp with her shots anymore. There were many turnovers and the team did not play very well in this quarter. They only managed to put in 7 goals this quarter. NYGH managed to intercept a few balls in the 3rd quarter. However, CHIJ still takes on the lead with a score of 34-8.
CHIJ played a good and stronger last quarter after the break. The match eventually ended with a score of 45-10 to CHIJ Toa Payoh.
Singapore Sports School (SSP) vs Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School (PLMGSS)
Singapore Sports School claimed victory over Paya Lebar Methodist Girls’ School today. They managed to intercept a lot of balls from PLMGSS with their sharp defense. This allowed them to take the lead by the end of the 1st quarter, with a score of 13-6.
SSP played an easy 2nd quarter due to the slow and poor accuracy of the passes made by PLMGSS. PLMGSS had a few out balls and their passes were not sharp enough, allowing SSP to intercept their balls easily. Also, they played a lot of passes causing them to make mistakes like replay and stepping. The score was 25-12 at the end of the 2nd quarter, to SSP.
In the 3rd quarter, PLMGSS came back stronger and played a better quarter as compared to the previous quarters. However, SSP did not do as well for this quarter. They made a lot of fouls like obstruction and contact. This causes them to have a lot of turnovers making opportunities for PLMGSS to score. In this quarter, PLMGSS took the lead and scored a total of 13 goals whereas SSP only managed to put in 7 goals. It was an intense quarter. Though SSP made several turnovers, they made it up with their excellent teamwork. The 3rd quarter ended with a score of 32-25 to SSP.
In the last quarter, both teams gave it their all and fought hard till the end. SSP emerged as winners of the match with a final score of 40-31. It was a close fight and both schools played a good game, making it an entertaining match to watch.
