Players Gear Up for 10th Mission Foods Nations Cup

12th December 2015, Singapore – Players from five teams participating in the Mission Foods Nations Cup were in good spirits as they arrived in Singapore today to begin their preparations for the upcoming tournament.

The Mission Foods Nations Cup, which takes place at the OCBC Arena from 13th-19th December debuted in Singapore in 2006, and has since been established as the nation’s most recognized netball tournament, and one of the best in the region.

At the press event today, captains from five participating teams; Northern Ireland, Papua New Guinea, Chinese Taipei, Singapore and an invitational team posed for pictures and shared their thoughts on the tournament at the iconic Gardens by the Bay.

Captain of Northern Ireland Gemma Gibney said “It is great to be back here, and play in the Nation’s Cup. The competition is of an international standard, the facility is great, we really enjoy playing here, and have had good experiences here, most memorably back in 2009 when we beat (team) to top the table and were crowned champions.”

Co-vice Captain of Team Singapore, Nurul Baizura said, “We’re looking forward to playing against such quality opposition at the 10th Nations Cup. We’ve had a good year with our win at the SEA Games, and hope to build on the momentum with a good result going into 2016.”
