RECORD NUMBER OF ENTRIES FOR THE 2015 MISSION FOODS BEACH NETBALL FESTIVAL
A record 64 teams took to the sands of Siloso Beach today for the Mission Foods Beach Netball Festival.
Playing across five categories (Women’s Open, Mixed Open and Women’s U23, Mixed Social and Women’s Social), teams played a street-style game with the sun shining down, the sand in their feet and the cool ocean breeze keeping them calm under pressure.
When not busy on court, players could enjoy the fringe activities – Mission Foods snack booth, Red Bull sampling, the fun photo booth and a pizza lunch followed by a fun shooting competition – all surrounded by the beats of the event DJ to create the party atmosphere which participants have come to love over the years.
Talking about the appeal of beach netball and the growth in the event, Netball Singapore Marketing and Events Director, Jane Sng said, “Mission Foods have been title sponsor of this event since 2012 and its annual growth in the number of teams taking part shows the interest in a fun event where netballers and newcomers to the sport can enjoy a great day out in a different setting to the normal playing courts. The support from Mission Foods and our other partners is crucial in the delivery of this event as we are delighted that this year has been another big success.”
Aside from the competitive categories, this year’s schedule included a Women’s Social and Mixed Social competition. Absolut Fire and Infinite-Virtus were the respective winners and took home a host of Mission Foods products.
Taking the top prize of $1,000 dollars in the Women’s Open category was Sparta after they defeated Bedok Bullets in the final. As runners-up, Bedok took home $500 and third placed team Whose received $300.
The same cash prizes were also given out in the other categories. In the Mixed Opens category, Tiger Prawns were victorious winning their match against Frenz. Third placed went to Dua Jiao.
The winner of the Women’s U23 this year was Team Jimmy. Second place went to Exalt Burdeners, and third was #TeamCheryl.
The top three teams in each group also took away a special Mission Foods Hamper to enjoy with Randall Tan, Brand Manager Missions Foods South East Asia on hand to enjoy some of the action.
Tan said, “This is a fantastic event year after year. Mission Foods sees a lot of benefits behind it as we engage directly with the correct consumers and expose our brand to them.”
