Team Singapore will compete against Ireland in the first match of the annual netball tournament tomorrow
2 December 2017, Singapore – Teams of the participating countries for the 12th edition of the Mission Foods Nations Cup have arrived in Singapore and the annual netball tournament is set to begin at the OCBC Arena tomorrow.
The team captains from Singapore, Malaysia, Ireland, Swaziland and Cook Islands were present at a photo call earlier this morning at the rooftop of People’s Park Complex at Chinatown, overlooking the cityscape of Singapore.Â
“The Mission Food Nations Cup is a big tournament for us and the national team is excited about it. It’s held right here in Singapore, so we’ll have our friends and family here to support us. We’re looking forward to playing against Ireland tomorrow and a better game with them,” said Singapore captain Vanessa Lee.
The national team will take on Ireland in the first match of the tournament, and will be led by the new coach, Natalie Milicich, who has just earned the coveted title of ‘Performance Coach of the Year’ by Netball New Zealand earlier this week.
Spectators can look forward to high levels of netball action and intense competition between the teams at the six-nation netball championship from 3 to 9 December. The tournament will kick off tomorrow with the opening ceremony at 2pm, followed by the first match (Singapore vs Ireland) at 3pm. Malaysia will then compete against Cook Islands at 5pm. The first day of the tournament will end with Hong Kong playing against Swaziland at 7pm.
