SINGAPORE, 26 November 2015 – Netball Singapore is pleased to announce the squad of 12 players who will fly the nation’s flag at the Mission Foods Nations Cup 2015. Led by captain Micky Lin, who could earn her 100th cap at the tournament, the team comprises a mix of youth and experience as they aim to put on a good showing after finishing as runners-up in 2013 and 2014.

Notable additions to the squad are debutants 22 year-old student, Parveen Nair, and 26 year-old teacher, Toh Wan Ling, both of whom have previously earned caps representing the nation at the 2014 Northern Cup Tri Series in Wales. Accompanying the duo is Kwok Shuyi, who last took part in the Nations Cup in 2013, and SEA Games gold medalist Yasmin Ho.

The absence of former Vice Captain Chen Huifen, who is taking a break, has given 25 year-old Charmaine Soh an opportunity to step up and co-Vice Captain the team with Nurul Baizura, who will be making her sixth Nations Cup appearance.

The current Asian and SEA Games Champions will be looking to delight netball fans as they take to the courts from 13-19 December at the OCBC Arena, to face the likes of Botswana, Chinese-Taipei, Northern Ireland, Namibia and Papua New Guinea in the six-nation group format tournament.

Speaking about the team selection, Ruth Aitken, Head Coach, said, “The team is a good balance of youth and experience. It will give the next generation of players like Parveen and Kimberly an opportunity to work closely with, and learn from seasoned players like Micky and Premila. We’re confident, and are hoping to end a successful year on a high with a positive performance at the Cup.”
