Fury steal top spot on New Idea ANL ladder

Victorian Fury have moved into top spot of the New Idea Australian Netball League ladder after an impressive weekend of netball in the Northern Territory.

In a round where the three of the league’s top teams headed north, Fury emerged the competition’s leader with a four-goal victory over the previously undefeated Queensland Fusion.

Unable to deliver a win to their home crowd, Territory Storm still treated its fans to some thrilling netball with the home favourites going down to the Australian Institute of Sport by six-goals on Sunday.

In other matches over the round, Netball NSW Waratahs maintained third spot with a convincing win over the Canberra Darters, while Western Australia, Tasmania, Netball NSW Blues and South Australia had a weekend of mixed-results in Sydney.


Round 3 Wrap – Tuesday 17 August

Victorian Fury knock off competition leaders

Victorian Fury have delivered the Australian Institute of Sport their first defeat for the 2010 New Idea Australian Netball League season with a 58-46 victory in Canberra.

Led by Vixens shooters Kathleen Knott and Tegan Caldwell the Fury were ahead at every change to eventually record a nine goal victory. The upset win adds spice to the competition with the race to 2010 title wide open as Fury suffered a 10 goal loss to Netball NSW Waratahs in Round 1.

In other results of the round, the NSW Waratahs won the local derby against the NSW Blues with a convincing 29 goal win while the Queensland Fusion started their 2010 ANL campaign with a bang, notching up two straight victories. Tasmania and South Australia had mixed results in the round recording a win and a loss while the Territory Storm and Canberra Darters were not in the winners’ circle in Round 3.


Round 2 Wrap – Monday 9 August

AIS holds top spot on New Idea ANL ladder

The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) has stamped their authority over the New Idea Australian Netball League with two victories in Round 2 to maintain top spot on the ladder.

In other results Territory Storm scored their second win over the season against the Canberra Darters while the Netball NSW Waratahs and Netball NSW Blues scored mixed results, racking up a win and a loss in Round 2.

Round 3 of the competition commences on Friday 13 August and will feature Queensland Fusion, Tasmania and South Australia for the first time in 2010.


Round 1 Wrap – Monday 2 August

AIS off to stellar start in 2010 New Idea ANL

The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) has started their 2010 New Idea Australian Netball League campaign with a bang notching up three wins in the first round of competition.

The opening round was also a successful one for Western Australia who scored wins over Singapore and Territory Storm.

The NSW Blues and Singapore didn’t get a win in Round 1 while the Canberra Darters, Territory Storm, Victorian Fury and Netball NSW Waratahs all recorded one victory.

Round 2 action starts this Friday.
