SPSSC KidzNet Carnival 2009

The Annual SPSSC KidzNet Carnival 2009 was successfully concluded on 14 November 2009 at the Kallang Netball Centre. This KidzNet Carnival brought approximately 55 teams (550 children) from 35 schools together in this one-day carnival.

KidzNet Carnival is organized by the Singapore Primary Schools Sports Council (SPSSC) through the North, South and West zones convenors and supported by Netball Singapore. The objective of the event is to encourage for all Primary 3 and 4 children (10 & Under) to play Netball and to promote a healthy lifestyle through the participation of games.

KidzNet, also known as modified Netball for children, was introduced in April 2006. It is to develop netball skills in a fun environment encouraging children to have active participation and a chance to try hard, to improve and to gain satisfaction from playing netball. This is done by modifying the rules and equipment of the game. Through playing, children will then develop their interest for netball and continue playing the game in a higher level.

During the event, the ball is smaller in size and children are also allowed to hold the ball for 6 sec instead of 3. These modified rules are to ease the children into the game and to make it fun for them.
